Monroe man facing cruelty charge

A Monroe County man is facing a charge of cruelty of animals after police said he left his dog in his vehicle with the windows closed in extreme heat.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said on Wednesday, July 7, about 2 p.m. they were called to the parking lot of the Walmart store in Mt. Pocono regarding a dog locked inside a vehicle. Police said they observed a small dog in a car with all windows rolled up and the doors locked. Police noted the temperature at the time outside was 93 degrees and there was no food or water in the vehicle for the animal.Police waited 45 minutes until the vehicle owner returned. He was identified as Anthony Cusumano, 36, of Tobyhanna, who was cited and released.
