Parryville Council is ready for what the winter throws at the tiny borough.
Mike Grant, council president said that cinders and 25 tons of salt are stock piled and 35 tons more are on order when that pile is depleted.
Council members were on a mission to be prepared for the ice and snow after the difficult winter two years ago had residents complaining about the near impassable conditions of Fireline Road due to ice.
Since then Parryville Council has had a salt shed constructed to store the needed supplies.
Grant also suggested that council hire a part time on call worker as a back up to the borough worker. Council then approved hiring Gary Christman to fill that position.
Council is also seeking to sell off a borough dump truck. The truck, a 1984 C-70, will be sold be sealed bid. The sale includes a tail gate spreader and 10 foot western plow. The truck is located at 317 Main St., Parryville, for viewing.
Parryville Council has also begun to plan for 2013 expenditures. Council plans to present a tentative budget to the public at the Nov. 27 meeting.
