State police at Lehighton announced that troopers will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint and roving DUI patrols this coming holiday weekend on various roads in Carbon and Monroe counties.

The operation is an effort to reduce the number of crashes, fatalities and injuries on state roads.The operation will take place during the period of May 26-27.
