Break out those swim goggles, suntan lotion and swimsuits.

The 65th opening of the Palmerton Memorial Pool will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday.

It will open at 1 p.m. Sunday, and at noon on Monday, Memorial Day. Weather permitting, it will be open those days until 8 p.m.

Next week Tuesday through Thursday, the pool will be open from 3-8 p.m. On Friday, June 1, regular operating hours begin, when the pool will be open from noon to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 1-8 p.m. Sundays.

Those who have already paid for their season passes may pick them up the first time they come to the pool. Passes can be purchased any time the pool is open for those who have not gotten theirs yet.

The daily admission price is $7 for adults, and $5 for students. The price scale, with regard to season passes, is available at www.palmertonpool.com [1].

As always, several special event days are again planned for the season, such as an egg hunt in the pool, or the chance to dunk one of the lifeguards in the dunk tank. The list of special events is also on the website.

Those in search of a location to hold a birthday party may contact the pool office at (610) 826-7515 for details about a birthday party plan.

Larry Arner, general manager of the Palmerton Memorial Park Association, said "We look forward to another fun and successful swimming season."

"Thanks to those that had the foresight to build such a wonderful facility for our community," Arner said. "Hope to see lots of you there."

The Palmerton pool is one of several local pools, including Lehighton, Lansford and Tamaqua, that will be opening this weekend, under expected sunny skies and warm temperatures.
