Weissport's police car will remain parked in Weissport even though the chief lives in Lehighton now.
Weissport Council met in executive session on Monday night to discuss whether the Chief Steve Mansueto can take the police car to his home in Lehighton instead of leaving it parked in Weissport.
Gene Kershner, council president, brought up the issue saying council needs to deal with the issue of having the car parked in Lehighton.
Immediately, Tim Rehrig, asked for council to go into executive session because he said the "issue is personnel."
"We'll have to discuss personnel," said Rehrig.
After the session, Kershner said that the car would be parked in Weissport.
In other police business, council gave permission to Mansueto to assist Lehighton Police at football games, with Lehighton Area School District, to reimburse the borough for the costs. Mansueto said that he was willing to assist Lehighton on "as needed basis."
Council also decided to advertise for a borough worker as the present worker has health issues.
Council will accept applications and resumes until the next meeting on Monday, June 4.
Sue Pywar, council vice president, noted that the playground mulch has arrived and needs to be spread. She said she was disappointed that the volume seemed so low for four tons.
Council also discussed the large number of properties who are not cutting grass.
Rehrig said that council needs to look at all properties and not single out any of them. Rehrig also advised council that streets need to be looked at for maintenance.
Pete Pywar said that the tar buggy has an issue with getting too hot and that someone needs to constantly monitor it because it does not shut off.
Rehrig suggested that Pywar look at having it repaired for safety issues.
Council also discussed purchasing a "brush" cutter to handle mowing the guard bank. Council discussed whether to purchase a new one or used one. Councilman Arland Moyer will look at benefits of making a used or new purchase.
Rehrig also noted that the Weissport Yard Sale is this weekend and that the park may need to be mowed again before the event.
Pywar said that he would mow in the rain if he had to so it would be done.
