ARC Bloodmobile

An American Red Cross Bloodmobile will visit Tamaqua on Wednesday, May 23, at St. John United Church of Christ. Hours will be from 1-6 p.m.

Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good general health is eligible to donate blood. To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767). Walk-ins are welcome.

This visit is being sponsored by Nova Marie's Thrift Shop of Tamaqua.

The church is located at Pine and Biddle streets (SR309).

Cross country

The Tamaqua Cross Country Boosters will begin gearing up for the 2012-2013 season and will meet May 30, at 6:30 p.m., on the front steps of the Tamaqua Area Senior High School. Anyone interested in supporting the teams is welcome.

Parents of the incoming freshman class are also welcome to attend.

First Methodist

The Rev. James Cavallero will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in First United Methodist Church.

Activities for next week include: Monday, trustees meet at 6 p.m., AD council meets at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, quilters meet at 9:30 a.m., worship committee meets at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, confirmation class meets at 5:45 p.m.; Thursday, Trevorrow scholarship committee meets at 7 p.m.

Calvary UM

The Rev. Edward Bean will officiate at this Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. The service will include a service of member reception and a report from conference delegates.

Also on Sunday, a praise and worship session, in the evangelistic style, will be held at 6:30 p.m.

An hour of prayer and praise is held Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

A combined Bible school, for Calvary and Zion Lewistown Churches, is being planned for June 11-15. This year's theme is "Incrediworld Amazement Park," which will be held from 6-8:15 p.m. at Zion's Church. St. John UCC

The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. A time of food and fellowship will be held following the service. Sunday school classes for all ages will be held at 11 a.m.

The weekly radio program will be aired on WLSH - AM1410, at 11:30 a.m.

Next week, the spiritual council will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday; Wednesday, the choir will rehearse at 7:30 p.m.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will include the presentation of awards to Sunday school, angel choir and chancel choir members. Sunday school and Confirmation classes will meet at 10:30 a.m.

Also on Sunday, the Allegro Bell Choir will present a concert at 3 p.m.

Activities for next week include: Monday, stewardship committee will meet at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, chancel/adult choir rehearses at 6:30 p.m., finance committee meets at 7 p.m.; Friday, Messenger assembly at 1 p.m.

Zion Lewistown

The Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include recognition of graduating seniors. Sunday school will meet at 9:30 a.m.

A Mother's Day covered dish dinner will be held May 20, at 5:30 p.m., in the social hall.

On Tuesday, the fund raising committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the preschool meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Zion Lutheran

The Rev. Jeffrey Kistler will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will be followed by a coffee and conversation fellowship.

Also on Sunday, the Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.
