Jim Thorpe police reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made recently.

Police said on Friday, March 30, about 5:29 a.m. officers were dispatched to 35 W. Seventh St., for a report of a female with a suspended license attempting to leave in a vehicle. Upon arrival officers were informed that Jamie L. Ruggiero, 36, of that address, was driving and intoxicated.

Joshua R. Leinhard, who was identified as the boyfriend of Ruggiero, refused to give a description of the vehicle but said she damaged the passenger side door of the vehicle by striking a telephone pole in front of the residence.

After leaving the scene police observed a Saab sedan with damage to the passenger side and a female driving in the 500 block of Center St. A vehicle stop was made and the driver was identified as Ruggiero. She showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests.

She was taken to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test. The test results indicated a .24BAC. She was charged with two counts of DUI, driving under suspension-DUI related, and careless driving.

The second arrest occurred about 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, March 31. Police stopped a vehicle operated by Corey Reagan Schlier Sr., 42, of 413 N. Fourth St., Lehighton, along SR209 for a vehicle code violation. Schlier showed signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest.

He was taken to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test. The test results indicated a .30BAC. He was charged with two counts of DUI and two motor vehicle code violations.
