Woman hid runaway juvenile, Lansford police say

A Lansford woman, who allegedly helped a youth who ran away from a detention center hide from police officers, waived charges on the matter to Carbon County Court.

Brandie E. White, 25, of East Bertsch Street, has been charged by Lansford police with hindering apprehension or prosecution, interference with custody of children, and corruption of minors.The hearing had been scheduled before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford.The arresting officer in the case was Joshua Tom of the Lansford Police Department.Tom wrote in the affidavit that on Feb. 7, at about 8:35 p.m., he and Officer Jason Helmer of the Lansford Police Department received information of the whereabouts of a male who had run away from Concerned Treatment Unit for Boys.Tom said he contacted White, who admitted she conspired with the escapee.He said in the affidavit, "Brandie White aided ... with shelter, food, water, clothing and other items needed to survive during the cold nights."It was added in the affidavit that because White was afraid the youth was going to be apprehended by police, she aided with transporting him back to York County in her personal vehicle.
