Dear Editor:

Snows have melted

Cars are rusty

Streets are dirty

Porches dusty.

Clothes are brighter

Jeans are cleaner

Shorts are shorter

Bodies leaner.

Bats are cracking

Balls are rollin'

Hitters swatting

Bases stolen.

Vaulters arching

Racers rounding

Tracks of cinder

Hearts are pounding.

Discus flying

Jav'lins soaring

Jumpers springing

Dashers scoring.

Busy seniors

"Singles" - "Teamers"

(Class Night coming)

Planners - schemers.

Teachers teaching

Ulcers burning

Kids are dreaming

Not much learning.

Slits in waders

Anglers mending

Trout are swimming

Rods are bending.

Worms are wiggling

Spinners spinning

Creels are filling

Owners grinning.

Walk through

Poison Ivy patches

Awful itching

Now he scratches.

Golfers scurry

Munch on "Hoagie"

Dreaming "Birdie"

Scoring "Bogie."

Ropes are turning

Turners waiting

Jumpers jumping

(Skaters skating).

'Cycles "revving"

Quiet shatters

Tires spinning

Gravel scatters.

Screeching "donuts"

"Wheelies popping"

"Rubber burning"

"Choppers chopping."

Lawn needs seeding

Weeds are growing

Feed it now

Spend weekends mowing

Some may wait till robins sing

but this is how I know it's spring.
