Twelve enter guilty pleas

Twelve people entered guilty pleas recently in the Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by Judge John E. Domalakes as follows:

Jesse Frank Stine, 47, Pottsville R.D., on a charge of theft of a coin purse was sentenced to serve one to two years in a state correctional institution and was ordered to report to the warden at the Schuylkill County prison on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 9 a.m. to be transported to the state facility. He also must pay $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund and court costs and make restitution of $159 to the victim, Bridget Zweizig, of Pottsville. Stine was cited by Patrolman Michael Stank, Pottsville police.Matthew M. Sonnon, 23, Cressona, on a charge of theft by deception was placed on strict probation 18 months and make restitution of $50 to Rickard Grickis Mobile Homes, North Manheim Township.Kimberly Ann Schappell, 33, Frackville, on a charge of harassment by telephone was fined $150, pay court costs and pay $50 to CJEA fund. Schappell was cited by Trooper Robert Klinger.Brett R. Reed, 23, Tremont, on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was placed on strict probation for 12 months, pay $100 to the Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, pay costs of prosecution and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Reed was cited by Patrolman Joseph Kavanaugh, Tremont police.Jonathan R. Helt, 27, Hegins, on a charge of simple assault was placed on strict probation for 12 months, pay a fine of $50 and court costs, pay $50 to CJEA fund and make restitution of $890.40 to the victim, Ken Morgan, following an altercation at the Hegins Inn and $2,014.25 to Geisinger Health Plan. Helt was cited by Sgt. Beau Yarmush, Hegins Township police.Jamie Lee Gerber, 23, Tremont, on a charge of fleeing from Pine Grove police, was placed on strict probation for 12 months and court costs. On a charge of driving while his license was suspended was fined $200, failing to have proper rear lights on his car, fined $25 and stop sign violation, fined $25 plus $150 in costs. Gerber was cited by Patrolman Chad Hofnagle.Jesse John Diego, 39, Philadelphia, on a charge of corruption of minors was placed on strict probation for 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund and court costs. Diego was cited by Trooper Thomas Robin for incidents which occurred in Pine Grove Township.April Nanette Brown, 44, Pottsville, on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was placed on strict probaton for 30 days, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund and court costs. Brown was cited by Sgt. John Morrow, Pottsville police.Shawn M. Bonowitz, 22, Pine Grove Township, on a charge of fleeing from state police , was placed on strict probation for 12 months and court costs. On charges of damaging two parked vehicles was fined $100 each and on a charge of failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic fined $25 plus $150 in costs.Tyler Edward Porter, 19, Pottsville, on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Monday, Nov. 30, at 9 a.m., pay a fine of $1,000 and court costs, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, receive outpatient substance abuse counseling and make restitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center. His driver's license is suspended 12 months. On a stop sign violation was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Porter was cited by Patrolman Richard Pugh, Pottsville police.Rodger Knudsen, 44, Mullica, N.J., on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Friday, Dec. 4, at 9 a.m., pay a fine of $500 and court costs, pay $100 to the SAE fund, $50 to the Catastrophe fund, undergo intensive outpatient treatment and make restitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center. On a charge of tampering with public records was ordered to serve an additional 12 months on probation and on a charge of a driver required to be licensed was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Knudsen was cited by Cpl. Jeffrey Futchko, Pine Grove police.Marcella Corcoran, 42, Stroudsburg, on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months beginning Friday, Dec. 4, at 9 a.m., pay a fine of $1,000 and court costs, pay $300 to the SAE fund, $50 to the Catastrophe fund, undergo intensive outpatient substance abuse counseling, make restitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center and his driver's license is suspended 12 months. Corcoran was cited by Sgt. William DeWald, Pottsville police.Each defendant must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee.
