The Carbon County Environmental Education Center (CCEEC) will host a program on the environmental impact of cosmetics, cleaners, laundry aids and similar products on Thursday, April 12, at 7 p.m.

"Read the Label! The environmental and the products we buy" will be presented by Becky Wollett-Schmick, who will also display alternative products and ideas that have little or no environmental impact.

"This is the kind of information we all should have," said Susan Gallagher, chief naturalist at CCEEC. "As consumers we have so much power. Every time we buy - or don't buy - a product, we send a message to the manufacturers. Why not send the message that you care about the planet," Gallagher added.

CCEEC members are invited free of charge, and a nominal donation is requested of non-members. Pre-registration is required, and can be done by calling (570) 645-8597. CCEEC is located at the west end of Mauch Chunk Lake Park, just outside Jim Thorpe, along the Lentz Trail.
