A Schuylkill County man is facing two counts of attempted homicide and related counts after he allegedly slashed two people with a box cutter-type knife, causing apparent life-threatening injuries to his two victims and then cutting himself.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the attack occurred in an apartment at 104 Market St., Auburn, on Wednesday about 4:05 a.m.The two victims of the slashing were identified as Alberto Rodriguez-Ramirez, 21, and a 17-year-old female. Charged with attempted homicide was Matthew James Miske, 21, of Schuylkill Haven.According to troopers Miske entered the apartment where Ramirez and the teen were living and immediately began slashing and stabbing at the two. Ramirez was reportedly in the bathroom when the attack began.The female sustained lacerations to her throat area while Ramirez had lacerations to his chest area. Both were flown by Medevac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Both are listed in serious condition.After cutting the two Miske cut himself in the throat. He was flown to the Reading Hospital. No condition report was available on him.The female victim told troopers that Miske was her ex-boyfriend.Troopers also said two females, ages 14 and five, were in the apartment at the time but did not suffer injuries.In addition to the two counts of criminal attempt-homicide, Miske was also charged with two counts each of aggravated and simple assault, four counts of recklessly endangering a person, and one count of burglary.Troopers said Miske is in custody and arraignment is pending his release from the hospital.
