Tamaqua man charged

A Tamaqua man has been charged following an underage drinking incident in the borough. He also learned first hand the effects of a taser gun.

Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of East Broad Street at 11:50 p.m. May 6 to deal with a man causing a disturbance outside of the Hang Loose Bar.Witnesses told the officer Barry Bridygham, 20, of 131 W. Union St., became confrontational when the bartender refused to serve him a beer. Bridygham left the bar before officers arrived but was discovered walking on North Greenwood Street. He showed visible signs of intoxication.When questioned by the officer Bridygham took off running. The officer followed until the suspect ran into a carport. Bridygham then turned around and ran toward the officer. After repeatedly warning Bridygham to stop or be tasered, the officer deployed the weapon.After being taken into custody Bridygham submitted to a portable breath test, which registered a .198 blood alcohol content.He was cited for resisting arrest, underage drinking, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
