Those attending the recent Carbon County Chamber Mixer at the Mahoning Valley Country Club heard about upcoming chamber events and learned some interesting information about Heritage Hill Senior Community from Lisa Marie Halecky, marketing, admissions director. Heritage Hill sponsored the mixer.

The Chamber is hosting the Home, Garden and Business Expo at Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall on Saturday, April 28; and Sunday, April 29, plus the Lehighton Area Council hosting a bimonthly meeting on Tuesday, March 13 at Platz's Restaurant, 101 Harrity Road, Lehighton. Mixer begins at 5:30 with dinner at 6 p.m. Reservations are due by March 12. The speaker for the evening will be from the office of Caruso Benefits Co. in Bethlehem. He will speak on "The Changing Landscape of Employee Benefits and features information on Health Reform. Those attending will learn about strategies employers can use in the short and mid-term to control costs and remain compliant with various government regulations health care. The Lehighton Area Council is also busy planning its annual Administrative Professional's Day Luncheon to be held April 25, at the Blue Ridge Country Club. Along with a luncheon, will be a fashion show.Halecky informed the group that she has been speaking with hundreds of family members during the 18 years that she has been assisting families in making a decision to keep their family at home or offer personal or skilled care.She said that 80 percent of family members say they are aware that their loved one's life was not the best environment for them at this time of their lives, but did not want to upset their loved one as long as they were OK."When there is another incident, families then have to deal with a hospital stay and need to find a place that provides rehab," she said. "Families now have to decide to find some type of 24 hour care."Halecky said there are various options at Heritage Hills.
