Summit Hill

Presentation

A presentation on his medical mission trip to Haiti will be presented by Dr. Kenneth Vermillion of Summit Hill during a public gathering scheduled to be held on Thursday, June 28, at 6 p.m. in the social hall of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill.

The event is being sponsored by the Summit Hill Lions Club, which will offer free appetizers and refreshments during the program. Dr. Vermillion, although retired from his dentistry practice in Summit Hill, continues to serve as president of the club although he and his wife, Roxane, have relocated to Florida.

During his presentation, Dr. Vermillion will speak about the trip and work that was performed in that underprivileged country. The public is invited to attend to learn more about the many problems confronting those less fortunate and how service work can be of strong benefit to them.

Lunch for children

A free lunch program for school-aged children of the Panther Valley School District is offered Monday through Friday at the Summit Hill Heritage Center, the former St. Paul United Church of Christ at Hazard and Chestnut streets, Summit Hill.

The program, a partnership of the center, the Lansford Summit Hill Community Partnership and the Feed the People organization, is operated in conjunction with the Pa. Department of Education.

The lunch is served from noon to 1 p.m.

The program is operated through donations that have been received from churches, an employer, the 14-Acre Farm, White Bear, and anonymous citizens. The largest donors have been the KME Corporation, Nesquehoning, and the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansford.

Volunteers are being sought to help serve the lunches. Those volunteering do not have to attend all five weekdays. Even one-day-per-week volunteers will be appreciated.
