Pocono Heritage Land Trust and Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center in Wind Gap will host the Adventures to the Ancients, an open space hike, on June 24, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Kurmes Preserve in Paradise Township.

The hike will be led by Bill Sweeney, an old growth forest enthusiast, botanist and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources naturalist; and Don Miller, an open space advocate, long-time teacher, botanist and naturalist with the Pocono Heritage Land Trust.

Hike participants will have an opportunity to explore both public and private old growth forest areas throughout the preserve, a 400-acre natural area owned and managed by the Pocono Heritage Land Trust.

Registration for this free hike is required. To register, call Sweeney at (610) 746-2808 or email wisweeney@pa.gov [1]. Donations will be accepted to help support the Pocono Heritage Land Trust's Preserve Management and Land Conservation Fund.

Hikers should dress appropriately for weather conditions as this hike will take place rain or shine. Wear sturdy hiking boots and bring water and energy snacks.
