Sarah Ayers and Chris Dean recently kicked off the first of a series of performances to be held every other week as part of the 6th Annual Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce's Summer Concert Series.

The concerts are free and held outside the Tamaqua Train Station on North Railroad Street.

"We are bringing a large variety of musical artists. These popular, and free, outdoor concerts have become the highlight of the season in historic downtown Tamaqua," said Linda Yulanavage, executive director of the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce.

The concerts will be held, weather permitting, on the platform at the historic Tamaqua Train Station, from 6 to 8 pm, every other Thursday, through Sept. 13. The concerts are provided free of charge to the general public through the generosity of community sponsors and local businesses.

This week's concert was sponsored by Chamber member, Mauch Chunk Trust.

"This year's entertainment lineup will provide something for everyone", said Sheri Beltz, Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce president and committee chair for the series. "No matter what your taste is in music, these artists will provide you with an outstanding evening of talent. The platform at the Train Station is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a summer evening in downtown Tamaqua."

The next concert, to be held on June 21 courtesy of AAA Tamaqua¸ will feature volcalist Fred Douglas.
