Carbon County commissioners on Thursday approved a number of salary changes:

In the Sheriff's Office, they changed the pay rate of one civil process clerk from $11.36 an hour to $10.40 an hour, and the rate of one deputy sheriff from $12.77 per hour to $12.04 an hour.

In the Area Agency on Aging, they extended the duration of one limited term aging care manager II from Jan. 1 June 30 to Jan. July 31.

In the Children and Youth Services agency, they changed the rate of one county caseworker II from $14.64 an hour to $15.08 an hour.

In the Communications Center, they changed the rate of one part-time dispatcher from $11.03 an hour to $11.36 an hour, and the rate of one part-time dispatcher from $11.71 an hour top $11.03 an hour.

In Corrections, they changed the rate of one sergeant from $19.84 an hour to $18.15 an hour, and one part-time cook from $11.28 an hour to $9.45 an hour.

In the Tax Claim Bureau, commissioners raised the salary of one director from $37,510.20 a year to $40,663.53 per year.

In Parks, commissioners changed the rate of one site coordinator from $22.79 an hour to $14.20 per hour, and established the position of one seasonal park maintenance worker at $9.84 an hour. The job is excluded from the county retirement plan as the person would work fewer than 1,000 hours.

In personnel moves, the commissioners accepted:

*The retirement of Karen M. vonFrisch, a part-time senior center manager 1, Area Agency on Aging, effective June 29;

*The resignation of summer laborer Nathan E. Black of Lehighton;

*Jordan Behrens, Jim Thorpe as a temporary clerk in the Recorder of Deeds office, effective June 18;

*Samantha O'Donnell, Nesquehoning, as a part-time licensing clerk in the Treasurer's Office, effective July 9.

The commissioners also approved the following Prison Board appointments: William H. Brack Jr., Mahanoy City; Paul D. Bruzgulis, Freeland; Darren R. Borger, Middleport; and Michael Torres, Dupont, as part-time corrections officers, effective June 11.

Commissioners also hired Joseph A. Ferko, Lansford, as a summer laborer, effective June 11.

Commissioners changed the status of Carolyn H. Malik, Lansford, from part-time coordinator of records in the Recorder of Deeds Office to civil process clerk in the Sheriff's Office, effective June 11. They accepted a leave of absence for Darlene Lamb-Howard of Effort from May 14-July 2.

Commissioners also approved seminar/training requests:

Adult Probation employees Joe Berke, Matt Kimmel, Clifford Eckhart, and Jillian McGinley to "The Bullet Proof Mind: Mental Preparation for Combat, to be held in Harrisburg; Area Agency on Aging employee Cheri Santore, to the 2012 July Quarterly Review in Gettysburg; District Attorney's Office employee Rose M. Walck to: System and Community-based Victim Services Working Together, in State College.
