Dance with Kim School of Performing Arts LLC, located in Lehighton, recently held an awards banquet and awarded over $2,300 in performing arts scholarships. The event was held at the Lehighton Orioles.

Named Senior Dancer of the Year for 2012 is Elizabeth Beck, 16-year-old daughter of Michael and Elyssa Beck of Easton and Bron and Maureen Leopold of Lehighton, and granddaughter of Terry and Donna Graver of Lehighton. Elizabeth was awarded a $300 Performing Arts Scholarship.Sophia Samoleski, 9-year-old daughter of Scott and Gina Samoleski of Jim Thorpe, was named Dance with Kim's Junior Dancer of the Year 2012. Sophia received a $200 Performing Arts Scholarship.Named Most Improved Dancer 2012 was Danielle Miller. Danielle is the 9-year-old daughter of Mark and Michelle Miller of Lehighton. She was awarded a $150 Performing Arts Scholarship.The Zarsky/O'Brien Memorial Scholarship for $100 was awarded to Ashley Stetler. She is the daughter of Dave and Tammy Stetler of Palmerton.The Amanda Thierer Memorial Scholarship was presented to 17-year-old Jordan Sample of Lehighton. Jordan is the daughter of Diane Sample. She received a $300 scholarship.The winner of the Studio Spirit Scholarship for $200 was Makayla and Makenzie Sabatino. Makenzie and Makayla are the daughters of Donato and Leah Sabatino of Lehighton.Recipients of the Mark McCool Memorial Scholarships, each worth $250, were awarded to Christi Beddiges, 16-year-old daughter of Paul and Peggy Beddiges of Lehighton; and Sarah Kistler, 17-year-old daughter of Rick and Kim Kistler of Lehighton.The Alumni Scholarships, each worth $250, were awarded to Katelyn Hosler, 14-year-old daughter of Martha Hosler and granddaughter of Jim and Katherine Hosler of Lehighton; and Tiffany Erney, 18-year-old daughter of Elizabeth Erney of Jim Thorpe.Awards were also presented for perfect attendance, 5- and 10-year anniversary, split club, studio spirit, most helpful parent and best team work.Dance with Kim will host its 25th anniversary recital on June 16 at Lehighton Area High School.
