Fern Ridge State Police probe crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes probed by troopers.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 7:36 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, along SR903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Ryan C. Hausman, 19, of Lehighton, was operating a 1998 Volkswagen Golf northbound when he fell asleep at the wheel. The car left the road and struck a large rock along the berm. Hausman was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.Another one-vehicle accident was reported at 6:12 a.m. on May 20 along Interstate 80 in Jackson Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Javier Carrillo, 56, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was driving a 2010 Honda CRV when his vehicle struck a deer. Carrillo was not injured but his vehicle had to be towed due to damages to the radiator.A hit-and-run accident occurred about 9:45 p.m. on May 28 along Gordon Road, near Allen Road, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.Tropers said David A. Wenninger, 25, of Effort, was stopped along the east shoulder of the road in a 1997 Subaru Outback, while another northbound vehicle approached. The other vehicle struck the side of the Outback. The other driver then fled the scene.Wenninger and passenger, Chelsea K. Goff, 24, of Bethlehem, were not injured. The hit-and-run vehicle is believed to be a Dodge.
