Subdivision given another time extension

Another time extension for the Vernon L. Frable minor subdivision plan was before the Polk Township supervisors at this week's meeting. That plan was submitted in August 2007 and accepted for review January 2008. A number of time extensions have been granted in the interim, but the board is not happy with that, although approving this extension by a 3-0 vote after some discussion.

Polk is not holding up the plan, which involves two townships, said Supervisor Nancy C. May, township secretary/treasurer. She explained that she had attended an Eldred Township meeting and reportedly Eldred "skips over it."Polk Solicitor James Ferari suggested sending a letter to Eldred saying the problematic items should be taken care of. The extension was a 91-day one, taking that extension to Oct. 22, 2012.A second extension, for the Pine Crest major subdivision plan, to submit a final plan, was also approved 3-0.Time may be a factor for the Lower Middle Creek Bridge since the start-up date has now been re-set yet the work is supposed to be completed by Aug.15. A letter will be written to the company which was the successful project bidder. In relation to that work, the residents of Mount 'N' Dale want a sign so they will know which way to drive when construction has begun.The township wants to make a grant application, with realized funds to be used for the Dotters Corner culvert work.Keystone Engineering has submitted a proposal for the Township Flood Plain Designation appeal. The township engineer said it is very good proposal.The solicitor reported that the Overlook Drive deed dedication has been executed. He found the information that was needed and the deed is to be filed.It was announced that the township will have an auction Friday, Sept. 14, beginning at 2 p.m., with auctioneers Doug and Tim Houser from New Ringgold. The township has excess equipment including such items as a grader, tandem, camper, paver, etc.Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company's report included having a yard sale Saturday; getting 11 calls in June, with 92 so far; and hosting Fire Safety Day on Oct. 7.The company's request to hold a coin toss in Kresgeville on Aug. 4 was approved.The zoning/codes officer gave his report, which included breakdown of permits, inspections, complaints and issues in progress. In regard to one of them, the board voted 3-0 to continue formal action. There will be no July or August Zoning Hearing Board meeting.The township is looking for leads on the theft of Hell Hollow road sign. If proven, perpetrators will be prosecuted.
