State police at Lehighton reported the results of a sobriety checkpoint, and roving DUI patrols conducted July 21-22 on various roads in Carbon and Monroe counties.

Seven motorists were arrested for driving under the influence (DUI), of alcohol and controlled substance.

In addition 12 motorist were drinking but released after passing field sobriety tests. Also, 40 citations were issued. One motorist was arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance; a pedestrian was arrested for persistent disorderly conduct; person was arrested for public drunkenness after falling down while attempting to walk; and two individuals were arrested for disorderly conduct after they were caught throwing fireworks from a moving vehicle.
