Members and volunteers of the new Tamaqua Community Arts Center, 125 Pine Street, will be hosting an Open Stage event Thursday at the center.

The event, which includes free admission, is open for all ages and levels of talent. Signups start at 5:30 p.m.. Entertainment starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.

Co-organizer Jack Kulp encourages musical talents to bring their own instruments and amplifiers (if needed), microphones, stands and chords. The only gear provided will be a PA, piano, organ and two microphones.

He also added that the 2nd floor venue offers a natural circle of volume, so no amps bigger that 2X12 combo amp or no trap set more than 5-piece with hi-hat and two cymbals.

Visitors are encourages to stop by and vote for their favorite performer. Organizers stressed that this is not a karaoke or jam session. Each performer will be given about 10 minutes of stage time. All forms of talent, not just music, are encouraged.
