A Carbon County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a crash in Jim Thorpe.

Borough police said about 2:49 a.m. on Sunday, June 17, they were dispatched to the area of South and East Fifth St. for a two vehicle crash. On scene officers observed a Honda Civic and Ford sedan damaged.Upon further investigation it was learned that the Honda, driven by Peter Skafestad Jr., 22, of 490 Kilmer Trail, Albrightsville, struck the Ford. Skafestad showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests.He was then transported to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test. The test revealed a .23BAC. He has been charged two counts of DUI and one count of careless driving, police said.
