From 1-5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, July 7, 8, 14, and 15, the Carbon Model Railroad Society, 529 Ore Street, Bowmanstown, will hold a Christmas in July Open House.
The main HO scale display is in various stages of completion and is an excellent learning tool. The clubs portable HO and N scale displays will also be in operation on the second floor. Admission is free.

The men and boys of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, July 7. There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola and Little Gap areas beginning at 8 a.m.
Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors. They are collecting papers only, no magazines. The shiny inserts are acceptable. They also need brown grocery size paper bags.
Persons missed, or those wishing to dispose of papers throughout the month, may take them to the garage across from the church at 2915 Fireline Road. In case of bad weather, the drive will be held the following Saturday.
At 7 p.m., Sunday, July 8, the Pennsylvania Villagers will perform in the Palmerton Borough Park. Bring your own lawn chair.
In case of rain, the concert will be held in the borough hall, Delaware Avenue. Next week, July 15, there will be a concert by the Palmerton Band.
From 5-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 10, a free community meal will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. All are welcome to enjoy a free meal and fellowship.
Friends of the Library
At 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 10, the Friends of the Palmerton Area Library will hold a meeting at the library. For more information, call the library at (610) 826-3424.
The Monday, July 9 meeting of the Palmerton Area Historical Society will be a "mystery trip." Members and guests should gather at the parking lot opposite Hager Furniture by 6 p.m. (note earlier time) to car pool. This replaces the usual meeting in the Palmerton Library.
