State police at Frackville reported investigating three crashes along Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County, in recent days.

Troopers said Eric E. Melusky, 18, of Seltzer, Schuylkill County, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Tracker southbound about 12:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 30, when he encountered ice on the road surface due to a snow squall that moved through the area.Melusky began to lose control of the vehicle and attempted to gain control but could not. The Tracker left the road on the right side and traveled through a culvert before impacting with an embankment on the west side. After initial impact the Tracker rolled over about four times before coming to rest on its passenger side off the road.Melusky and his passenger, Devon M. Yeager, 17, of Pottsville, sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center (SMC)-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, by Ryan Township ambulance. Damages were termed severe to the vehicle.A two vehicle crash occurred about 12:20 a.m. Monday in Butler Township. Troopers said Steven Slavinsky, 51, of Shenandoah, was parked in a 1988 Ford F450 flat-bed truck, along the right berm assisting another motorist with a towing request.At this time Brittany Hull, 20, of Tobyhanna, was operating a 1990 Honda Civic northbound and lost control on the ice-covered road. The Honda went onto the berm and ran into the rear of the truck.Hull complained of back pains and was taken to the SMC-E. Norwegian St., for treatment. Passengers with Hull, Kenneth Lancaster, 21, and Alex Ramos, 22, both of Tobyhanna, and Slavinsky and his son, Adam, 15, were all not injured.Damages were termed heavy to the front of the Honda and moderate to the truck. The Honda had to be towed from the scene.The third crash occurred about 11:50 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29, also in Butler Township. Troopers said Fred Jackson Jr., of Richmond, Va., was driving a 2005 International 9400 tractor with utility trailer northbound and was going too fast for conditions when his vehicle slid off the road due to snow and ice. The truck went down a slight embankment on the east side and came to rest.Jackson was not injured. Damages were moderate to the tractor, troopers said.
