Police could be seen dusting for prints and gathering evidence at the Fegley's Mini Mart in McAdoo following another armed robbery Thursday night.

This holdup has added to the growing number of armed robberies in our area recently.Police departments from McAdoo and the townships of Kline and Rush responded around 9:15 p.m. after a white male, estimated to be in his mid to late 20s, waited until all the customers had left the store and walked into the mini mart, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money.Wearing a red ski mask, battered-style loose-fitting blue jeans, light or tan colored boots and a black hooded jacket, the robber appeared to calmly go about his business; even remaining in the store for more than a few minutes. In addition to an unknown amount of money, the robber also stole packs of Newport 100's and a cigarette lighter. In the store's surveillance video, the robber was seen approaching and leaving from the rear east side of the store.A witness stated he also observed dark or black facial hair inside the mask.Starting employment at the mart only four days prior, clerk Holly Martin, stated, "I was calm and tried talking with him to let him know that I was a person too."No one else was in the store at the time. It was noted that the robber also talked softly.Martin added, "Police departments were on scene almost immediately."Kathy Nicholls, operations manager, Fegley's Mini Marts, stated this was the first time their McAdoo store was robbed.In the past month, the city of Hazleton has been the target of seven convenient store armed robberies. One of those stores was held up three times in less than a week.Local convenient stores robbed in the past week include Fegley's Mini Mart in Tamaqua (Jan. 20), Turkey Hill in Nesquehoning (Jan. 26) and last night, at the Fegley's in McAdoo.Police departments from Schuylkill, Carbon and other surrounding counties are working together to gather evidence to better investigate the recent rash of armed robberies in our area. The latest armed robberies involved a white male wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.Fegley's Mini Mart and Tamaqua Crime Watch are offering a one-time first-person reward of ($1,000 from Fegley's) and ($250 from Tamaqua Crime Watch) if it results in the arrest and conviction of this robber.To view available photos or videos of the robberies, visit
