An armed robber got away with an unknown amount of cash just before 6 a.m. today at the Turkey Hill Minit Market on West Catawissa Street (SR209) in Nesquehoning.

In the surveillance video, the robber, who wore a black bandana or mask over his face, could be seen pointing a black gun at the store clerk.

Nesquehoning Police Chief Sean Smith stated the robber was a thin, young, white male, approximately 5 ' 8" to 5' 10" tall, wearing a black coat and hood and blue jeans.

An unnamed witness, who bravely followed the armed robber, stated that the robber was only in the store for a brief time before he headed east toward the rear of the store on West Mill Street, where he was seen speeding away in a reddish Dodge Neon.

Nesquehoning Police were seen inside and outside the store taking foot and tire print measurements, photos and looking over the surveillance video. The witness also praised the responding police departments; stating that they were on scene within seconds of the call.

A thin white male, also armed with a gun, robbed the same store last February. Responding Police Departments consisted of Nesquehoning, Lansford, Lehighton, Jim Thorpe and Summit Hill. Anyone with information concerning this morning's robbery or of a thin white male driving a red Dodge Neon is asked to call Nesquehoning Police at (570) 669-9111.
