Sarah Modrick became what is believed to be the first full-time assistant district attorney in Carbon County.

Modrick was sworn into office last week by Carbon County Judge Joseph J. Matika. Modrick is replacing Matika in the district attorney's office. Matika resigned the position when he became a county judge.

Modrick is a graduate of Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, New York, N.Y., and Dickinson College, of Carlisle.

She is also a graduate of Emmaus High School.

Modrick most recently served as law clerk for Senior Judge Richard W. Webb. She also served as legal intern for Judge Bruce Allen, of the New York State Supreme Court Criminal Term, in New York, N.Y.

Modrick belongs to the bar not only in Pennsylvania but also New York and New Jersey. While at Cardozo School of Law her honors included Dean's Merit Scholarship.

DA Gary F. Dobias said he believes this is the first time that Carbon County has a full-time assistant district attorney. All present assistants are part-time.

Dobias is full-time DA.
