In lieu of a Christmas gift exchange, the second grade students at the Panther Valley Elementary School, Nesquehoning, collected money to donate to the newly-formed "Feed the People" soup kitchen. The youths recently presented program organizers a check for $150. Because of the donation, the soup kitchen will be serving its fourth free meal at the Summit Hill Heritage Center, Hazard and Chestnut streets, Summit Hill, on Tuesday, Feb. 7. Soup kitchen coordinators said they will frame the youths' picture and display it prominently at the center in honor of the second grade students. They include, front, from left, Eden Arnold, Hannah Kane, Alexia Fernandes and Shannon Pearson; middle, Ryan Welsh, Caleb McDermott, Robbie Valusek and Nicholas Surotchak; and back, Zander Bauer, Samuel Foote and Jaden Bruno.
