Fire destroys Penn Forest home

A fast moving fire Sunday afternoon in Penn Forest township destroyed a home in the Valley View West development.

The fire was first reported by neighbors at 44 Cheyenne Circle just before 1 p.m. stating the flames were already through the roof.When firefighters arrived on scene, the single family, A-frame dwelling was fully involved in flames.Due to the remote location of the scene water, portable reservoirs were established and water was shuttled to the scene by tank trucks.No injuries were reported.The flames were knocked down quickly by the firefighters and were contained to the home.Responding besides the Penn Forest Township Fire Company were members and apparatus from fire departments in Jim Thorpe, Albrightsville, Kidder Township, Franklin Township, and Lehighton. Lehighton Ambulance also was at the scene.The Lansford and Summit Hill fire companies were put on stand-by status for their RIT (Rapid Intervention Team).The cause of the fire was not determined.
