Children without kindergarten experience who will be six (6) years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2012, are eligible to register for either kindergarten or first grade, according to this same policy. However, if you wish to have your child enter first grade, you must put this intention in writing at the time of registration.A state-issued birth certificate, or other acceptable proof of age and name is required for each child to be registered. If these papers are not available at the time of registration, the child should be registered, and the documents must be provided before the child will be admitted to school in August. Parents/guardians are advised to bring the necessary immunization records to the registration clinic, along with your child. Proof of these immunizations must be provided before the child will be admitted to school.Since all children are now required to have a Social Security number, it is optional to provide the school with this number. Please bring your child with you to registration. While you are completing the necessary registration paperwork with Mrs. Ottinger, your child will have a vision screening with our school nurse, and take a kindergarten readiness assessment with a kindergarten teacher or other staff member.
