Charges are pending against a female driver who apparently was the cause of a multivehicle crash Tuesday morning along the Sgt. Stanley Hoffman Boulevard in Lehighton.

The crash occurred just after 11 a.m. when the woman was traveling north in the right lane and made an abrupt lane change to the left.

In doing so, she pulled into the path of a box delivery truck, which struck her car on the driver's side.

The truck then swerved to the left, striking a parked pickup truck.

The victim was extricated from the wreckage by members of the Lehighton Fire Department, treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics then transported to an area hospital.

The driver of the truck did not appear to be injured. The bypass was reduced to one lane by Lehighton Fire Police.

Lehighton police are investigating the incident.

Officer Mike Svetik, who handled the incident, was not immediately available early Wednesday.
