CCTI incident warrants charges

Jim Thorpe police have arrested a 15-year-old boy from Summit Hill with simple assault and criminal mischief as a result of an incident that happened during the school day on Dec. 9, 2011 at the Carbon Career & Technical Institute.

Police said they were summoned there at 10:38 a.m. to investigate a reported assault, and learned the boy had thrown a piston at another student, knocking out two of his front teeth.Police said the juvenile admitted to throwing the piston in the presence of his father. Police also said the juvenile stated he has been harassed by other students at the school but did not report that harassment to school officials.A petition has been filed in the Carbon County Juvenile Probation Office, charging the boy with the two offenses.
