Volunteers with the local chapter of the Make A Wish Foundation are holding their annual Polar Bear Plunge this Saturday at Deer Lake in Deer Lake from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will also consist of a bake sale, chili cook off and chinese auction. There will also be hot food and drinks for sale.
Local volunteer, Demma Krammes, who is employed as a judge's clerk at the District Magistrate in Tamaqua, said, "Everyone is encouraged to attend the event or jump in." The event will also consist of a special visit from Mr. Polar Bear. Members of the Tamaqua swim team are expected to participate as well. Krammes also pointed out that tomorrow, Friday , Feb. 24, Ryan Leckey from Newswatch 16 will be at Deer Lake live from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. to promote Saturday's event. She added, "This is our biggest event for the year, and there is going to be so much to do for the entire family."
