Join Autumn Jordon to learn more about writing romances at the next meeting of the Black Diamond Writers' Network.

The meeting will run from 10 a.m. to noon tomorrow at the Tamaqua Public Library, 30 S. Railroad St., Tamaqua.

The meeting will be followed by a brief critique session for those interested in sharing some of their work or a roundtable discussion. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Jordon will speak about today's romance genre in her presentation, "Romance: Not Your Mother's Bodice Rippers Anymore." She will share her insights as where to begin and how to structure a romance and what makes it the number one selling genre.

Romance books may still include plenty of hot and steamy scenes to get readers' imaginations rolling, but the genre has changed over the years to include plots with depth and realistic characters. Learn more about expanded subgenres such as paranormal romance and romantic thrillers.

Jordon took the 2010 Gold Leave Award for Best First Book and was a 2009 Romance Writers of America Golden Heart finalist. Her books include In The Presence of Evil, Evil's Witness and Obsessed by Wildfire.
