A number of projects proposed in Schuylkill County were reviewed by the county Planning Commission at its monthly meeting held Wednesday evening at the courthouse in Pottsville.

Capastone Foundation, Lehigh County, announced it is applying through the Rural Business Enterprise Grant Program to provide training resources for local small doctor's offices throughout the county. The training provided by the foundation's resources will allow these private practice doctors the opportunity to expand the services that they can provide to the people in their communities.

Prodesign Plus, P.C., located at 87 Tide Road in Rush Township, is applying for a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit renewal for stormwater discharges associated with construction activities at Lot 38 in Tidewood East Industrial Park.

Eagle Rock Resorts Company is applying for a joint permit and stream crossing for its Hidden Forest Phase One project in North Union Township.

Summit Anthracite Inc. Porter Township, is applying for a general permit to operate its Feather Small Quarry project, a nonmetallic mineral processing plant.

State Correctional Institution in Ryan Township is applying for renewal for its air quality state only operating permit.

World Resources Company Inc., Norwegian Township, is applying for a draft permit for its hazardous waste treatment and storage facility which treats and stores non-ferrous and precious metal concentrate produce from the recycling of residual and hazardous electroplating wastewater treatment sludge.

The planning commission gave final approval to four subdivisions:

They were: construction of a building to house a pharmacy at Sunbury and Front sts., Minersville; Doris A.Hinkel, Barry Township, to subdivide 23.81 acres not for development; Herb Family Trust, Eldred Township, to subdivide 53.431 acres into two lots for annexation; and Swartz and Dudash to annex 91.28 acres in Union Township.

Zoning permits

The board was informed by the zoning officer that 17 zoning permits were issued in January with fees collected totaled $5,295 and the estimated cost of construction was $1,037,400. Those who obtained permits were as follows:

Larry Bovenzi, North Union Township, single family home, $359,000; David Snyder, Porter Township, agricultural greenhouse, $10,000; William Stoppie, Cass Township, home, $135,000; Thomas P. Brennan, East Norwegian Township, sign, $15,000; Allen and Carol Angst, Cass Township, three sheds, $15,000; Scott and Kelly Fisher, Tremont, shed $4,200.

Also, Ruth M. Confair, Tremont, shed, $7,500;Jeff Wagner, Union Township, modular home, $359,000; Paul and Donna Herakas, Union Township, shed, $2,000; Mark D. LaRocca, Pine Grove, coffee shop, bakery and eatery, $20,000; and Earl J. Jacoby III and Harry Nagle, Washington Township, detached garage, $7,000.
