Heritage Hill woman celebrates 95 years

Ailene Abbie Meyers Utz will soon be celebrating her 95th birthday. She was born on Feb. 17, 1917 to Maud Jordon and John Kemp Meyers of Dayton, Ohio.

She met her husband David William Utz while they were students at Ohio Wesleyan University. They were married for more than 50 years until his passing. Over the years they lived in Dayton; Albany, N.Y.; Chicago; and Savannah, Ga.Abbie moved to Heritage Hill from Savannah in September after the passing of her companion of more than 10 years, Tom Carr.She and her husband had four children. Daughter Ruth Anne lives with her husband, Mark, in Dayton. Her son, William Harvey II, lives near Chicago. Son John Edward, and his wife, Chris, live in Newport, R.I. Another son, David Kemp, resides in Buck Hill Falls. His wife Bonnie is a resident of Heritage Hill's Shepherd Garden.She has 10 grandchildren: Annie, Katherine, who is married to Michael; and Aubrey, all of Ohio; Larissa, who is married to Sergio of Texas, and David Fletcher II, who is engaged to Jodi, and lives in New York City; Ted, who is married to Nadine; Katrina, and Maurin, and her husband Zach, all of San Diego, Calif.; Kelly, who is married to Bill, resides in Oklahoma City; and David Ensor II, and his wife Angel of Asheville, N.C.She has nine great-grandchildren.Over the years Abbie's hobbies have included tennis and golf. For 11 years she worked with a number of dentists, helping them to manage their offices. She enjoys writing and published columns in several community journals. She enjoys keeping in touch with friends and family through handwritten notes.She is active on several Heritage Hill committees and enjoys visiting with her new neighbors.
