A man wearing a black North Face-like jacket and red ski mask, walked into the Turkey Hill Minit Market in Hometown, Rush Township at about 2:30 this morning, then pointed a gun at the teller and demanded money.

Less than an hour and a half later, a gunman fitting the same description held up the Exxon Mobile Uni-Mart Convenient Store at gunpoint in Frackville. The robber was last seen running north on Garfield Avenue in Frackville.It was unknown how much cash was stolen from the Uni-Mart store, although the robber reportedly only received a small amount of money from Turkey Hill.Using surveillance footage from both locations, Rush Township police and state police described the suspect as being a medium to dark skinned male, approximately five foot 10 inches to six foot tall, wearing a red ski mask and black hooded North Face or North Face-like jacket, which was zipped up to his chin.The robber, using a black handgun, was seen driving away from the Turkey Hill in Hometown.Responding to both robberies, police units from more than a dozen police departments in both Schuylkill and Carbon counties could be seen staged at major intersections and roadways.These two robberies have raised the total number of armed robberies in the two-county area to seven in less than two weeks.The first armed robbery occurred on Friday, Jan. 20, at the Fegley's Mini Mart in Tamaqua and involved a tall white (thin to average build) male wearing a black North Face jacket, white bandanna and blue jeans.The second robbery happened in the morning hours of Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Turkey Hill Minit Mart in Nesquehoning, and also involved a white (average build) male wearing a black jacket, mask and blue jeans. That same day, the Fegley's Mini Mart in McAdoo was also the target of an armed robbery involving an above average build white male wearing a black jacket, red mask, and blue jeans.Then, on Tuesday Jan. 31, Redner's Warehouse Market in Nesquehoning was robbed at knife point by above-average build man wearing a white cap and blue/gray/white plaid long sleeve shirt.Despite past reports of the Nesquehoning robber having black or dark hair, police can not confirm the hair description.Compared to photos and videos of other robberies, Tuesday's Nesquehoning robber didn't match any of the other descriptions from recent robberies.Police also noted that the Redner's robbery was the first business robbed that wasn't a convenience store.There were no reports of physical injuries in any of the armed robberies.An anonymous comment left from someone on Facebook stated how she was stopped randomly by Nesquehoning police following the Nesquehoning robbery on Tuesday.This person, noticing all the police presence on her way from her Pottsville job this morning, stated "It was like a war zone this morning. It felt great to see so many cops out there trying to catch this guy. I must have seen hundreds of cop cars when I came from work this morning."Local and state police encourage the public to be more alert and report suspicious activity, including a man wearing a black hooded jacket and mask, and to call 911 and report it.If you have any information on any of the armed robberies, call police immediately at 911.
