Mary Ann Hughes of 251 S. Second St., Lehighton, has been arrested by Jim Thorpe police on two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and summary charges of careless driving and failure to drive on the right side of the road.

Police said the charges stem from an incident at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 15. in the area of North and Front streets. Police said they were dispatched there to investigate a report of an erratic driver and upon arrival observed a vehicle driven by Hughes northbound on North Street. Police said they observed her committing several traffic violations and conducted a traffic stop at Eighth and Lehigh streets, identifying Hughes, 55.

Police said she displayed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests and was transported to the Gnaden Huetten memorial Hospital, lehighton, for a blood test. Results of the testing revealed her blood-alcohol level was .237.
