Zip line planning meeting agenda changed

Kate Durso, the attorney representing Navitat Canopy Adventures, notified Penn Forest Township planning commission on Wednesday that they will not be attending the planning meeting, which is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 20.

The letter from Durso's office advised the township that officials for Navitat will not be attending the upcoming meeting; that they granted an extension through March 31, 2013 for the township to review the development plan; and asked to be placed on the agenda for the planning commission's Jan. 28 meeting.Navitat Canopy Adventures proposes to develop a canopy-level zip line tour on property owned by Scott and Christine Dietrich of Penn Forest Township. The property to be leased by Navitat sits at the northernmost 200 acres of the Dietrich parcel and boarders the Lehigh Valley Gorge.Residents of the area have been less than receptive of the plans because there is only one access road to the proposed site. Bear Creek Drive is a private road, which is maintained by the residents of the Bear View development.According to township administrator, Cindy Henning, the meeting most likely would be held at Penn Forest Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 depending on the availability of the fire house.Once confirmed the township will advertise the meeting in the TIMES NEWS.Additional information can be obtained by contacting Henning directly at (570) 325-2769.
