Carbon County commissioners on Thursday approved appointments to various boards and authorities.

They reappointed Josiah Behrens of Jim Thorpe to a four-year term as Public Director of the Conservation District; Commissioners Chairman Wayne Nothstein was appointed to a one-year term as Commissioners' Representative.The Rev. Doris Bray of Palmerton was reappointed to a five-year term on the county Housing Authority.Commissioners appointed Mark Sverchek of Lehighton to fill an unexpired term on the Industrial Development Authority to Dec. 31; Craig Zurn of Jim Thorpe to an unexpired term to Dec. 31, 2013; and Marshall Walters to an unexpired term to Dec. 31, 2014.Commissioners also accepted the resignation of John E. Hall from the Industrial Development Authority.Also, the commissioners reappointed Alfred M. Feuerstein of Jim Thorpe; George Karas of Lehighton, and Robert Miller of Nesquehoning to four-year terms on the county Planning Commission.In other matters Thursday, commissioners:*Signed a two-year agreement with Essential Management Solutions, Inc., Pottsville for 911 wireline and wireless fund management. The agreement brings the county in line with the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency Act 56/78 regulations.The agreement is from Jan. 1, 2013 through Dec. 31, 2014. The total $75,600 cost is shared between Act 78 and Act 56.*Approved a 2013 Training Membership Program contract with Bucks County Community College, Bronze Membership, with an annual $800 fee, to be paid through the 2012-2013 Hazardous Material Response Fund grant.*Extended an agreement with Superior Plus Energy Services, Montoursville, for #2 heating oil and off-road diesel fuel delivery to various county locations for next year.The fixed cost of profit shall remain the same, at 21.5 cents/gallon above the Scranton Oil Index Service on the date of fuel delivery.*Approved an Agricultural Operations Agreement with Lil-Rus Farms for three years, from Jan. 6, 2013 through Jan. 6, 2016. A review of the operations will be made on or before Jan. 6, 2015 to determine if operations should continue.
