Crashes keep troopers busy

State police at Schuylkill Haven were kept very busy over the past weekend with numerous crashes reported on Schuylkill County roads.

A three-vehicle crash occurred about 3:54 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, along SR61 in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Emily E. Wagner, 20, of Orwigsburg, was southbound driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla, when she lost control while negotiating a right curve. The car slid across the median and impacted with a 2011 GMC Yukon driven by Charles F. Vincent, 46, of Orwigsburg, who was northbound.The Yukon was pushed off the right side. The Corolla then struck a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu driven by William A. Kuder, 45, of Coplay, Lehigh County.No one was injured. Troopers cited Wagner for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.A two vehicle crash was reported at 5:23 p.m. Friday at the intersection of state routes 61 and 443, in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Gary M. Stauffer, 46, of Zionsville, was stopped for a red light when his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was struck in the rear by a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire driven by Sarah A. Winter, 23, of Reading.Winter was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center (SMC)-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville. Stauffer was not injured. Troopers cited Winter for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.A one vehicle crash was reported at 5:49 p.m. Friday along Summer Hill Road in South Manheim Township. Troopers said Michael J. Bubeck, 18, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer eastbound when he lost control and the vehicle started to fishtail on a snow-covered road. The vehicle spun about 90 degrees and crossed the center line into the westbound lane. It then left the road and struck a tree and a junction box before spinning another 180 degrees back across both lanes and coming to rest in a cemetery.Bubeck was taken the the SMC-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for treatment of a minor injury. He was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash about 7:20 p.m. Friday along Skulp Hill Road, in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Jeremy J. Wilson, 28, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado northbound when he lost control. The truck left the road and struck an embankment and then overturned. He was not injured. Troopers said he was cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.Troopers probed a two vehicle crash about 12:08 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the intersection of state routes 61 and 443 in North Manheim Township. Giuseppe C. Giuffre, 30, of Pottsville, was driving a 2006 Ford Escape northbound on 61 while Judie R. Yob, 41, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2010 Cadillac Escalade westbound on 443. Yob was attempting to make a left turn at the intersection and had the green light when her vehicle was struck by the Ford. After impact both vehicles remained in the northbound lane.No one was injured. Troopers cited Giuffre for a red light violation.Troopers said a one vehicle crash was reported at 1:46 p.m. on Saturday along SR895, near SR61, in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Raymond Goelbert, 71, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound when he fell asleep at the wheel. The Jeep traveled off the road and along the south berm before striking a utility pole. After striking the pole the Jeep traveled along the berm and struck another pole with the front end.After that impact the Jeep re-entered the road, traveled about 150 feet before it left the road again and struck a tree. After impact with the tree the right rear tire came off and the Jeep traveled counter-clockwise and came to rest facing northwest in the eastbound lane.Goelbert was injured and taken to the SMC-S. Jackson St. Damages were severe to the Jeep. The road was closed for over an hour until repair crews from PPL and Verizon could fix the poles.A one-vehicle crash occurred about 12:39 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27, along SR645 in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Mark H. Pinkerton, 24, of Pine Grove, was driving a 1998 BMW Z3 southbound and negotiating a left hand curve when the vehicle began to slide. Pinkerton attempted to counter-steer with the vehicle traveling across the northbound lane and striking an embankment along the berm with the driver's side.Pinkerton was not injured but the vehicle sustained significant damages and had to be towed from the scene, troopers said.Pinkerton was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
