Blue Mountain Health System (BMHS) has been holding health fairs this summer, bringing convenient health services to communities.

In July over 40 people took advantage of the free screenings offered by BMHS in the Lehighton location and another 22 people attended a health fair Wednesday in Albrightsville.

"BMHS is committed to raising the community's awareness of convenient, local health care services, such as the ones located right here in Penn Forest Township," said Gary Higgins, director of Rehabilitation Services for BMHS.

The free screenings, which took place at the Albrightsville Physical Therapy Center and Laboratory, included cholesterol screenings, blood glucose screening, body fat analysis, blood pressure and pulse oximetry.

Patients were also treated to healthy refreshments like apples and granola bars. There was even a door prize awarded to one lucky participant.

One patient explained how BMHS shares the test results with her doctor upon her request.

This was particularly important for her because she needed the tests, but was unable to cover her insurance deductible this year.

"The Albrightsville lab and physical therapy center is a great example of how BMHS is reaching out to our community to provide quality health care close to home," Higgins added.
