Downtown Lehighton will be converted into a motorcyclists' assemblage tomorrow.
The 14th annual Bike Night will be held from noon to 8 p.m. around the Lehighton Park. The event always attracts hundreds of motorcyclists who participate in a poker run, biker games, and merely show off their vehicles.
This year's event is sponsored by the Lehighton Downtown Initiative Committee. Proceeds will benefit the LDIC.
Brenda Koons, a member of the Bike Night Committee, said the biker games will starts after 3 p.m. Among them are slow ride, toll booth, ring toss, kielbasa queen, and frozen tee shirt contest during which tee shirts are folded and frozen solid and participants must untie them.
The live entertainment will be in the band shell.
The poker run in conjunction with the Bike Night starts at noon, with participants registering at the Lehighton Municipal Building. It ends at the Boat Yard in Franklin Township.
There will be a blessing of the bikes at 5:30 p.m. by Rev Chris DeForest, of St John's Lutheran Church, Mahoning Township, at the Lutheran Church stand.
Koons said once again there will be a bike show with 10 categories of judging. The trophies for this are being provided by Lehighton VFW Post 256. There also will be a "Best of Show" trophy awarded.
Admission to Bike Night is free.
