Come out this week and enjoy the Carbon County Fair. The fair opens at 3 p.m. tomorrow and continues through Saturday, Aug. 11. Hours are 3 to 11 p.m. daily.
For fair organizers, this marks their 13th year. This year's theme is "Blue Jeans and Country Dreams."
During the five days, visitors will find plenty of great local food, agricultural exhibits, displays, entertainment and rides. The opening ceremony and fair queen crowning will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Today the still exhibits arrive and the judging will begin in earnest. Also the 4-H livestock will arrive and will be weighed in. On Tuesday, the rabbits and cavies arrive, along with the dairy and market goats,
The fairgrounds will be busy today with last minute details to make the fair's opening tomorrow special for everyone.
The fair will have daily ride specials, Tuesday through Friday, from 4 to10 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 10 p.m. Everyone is invited to bring a chair and enjoy covered seating at the main stage for the great shows throughout the week.
Tuesday's entertainment highlights include two performances (7 and 9 p.m.) by country singer Nicole Donatone, and a spectacular fireworks display at 10:15 p.m. The fair organizers boast that the fireworks are the best in the county of all displays offered through the season.
On Wednesday, Remember When will be on stage at 5, 7 and 9 p.m. and in the arena will be a demolition derby.
On Thursday, it will be children's day, where youngsters can win a bicycle. Crazy Heart will entertain at 5, 7 and 9 p.m. and there will be professional wrestling in the arena.
On Friday, Penn's Peak Radio, the Doctor will be on stage at 5:30 p.m., and the Fabulous Hubcaps will entertain at 7 and 9 p.m. There will be another demolition derby at 7 p.m. in the arena.
On Saturday, Tracy Lee will perform at 1 p.m. and at 3 p.m. the Hawks will take the stage. At 5 p.m. Joe Bonson and the Coffee Run will perform; and at 7:30 p.m. the Cramer Brothers will entertain. At 9:30 p.m., the fair will close out with a Jam Session featuring the Cramer Brothers, Brooke Unger, Joe Bonson and Coffee Run and Tracey Lee and the Hawks. On Saturday, there will be a horse show at 8:30 a.m. and the livestock sale will be at 1 p.m.
