Billiards enthusiasts have a new place to enjoy themselves in Tamaqua.

After noticing a need for a family-oriented pool hall in the area, Stan Mellor and his son Stosh made the decision to open a hall in downtown Tamaqua. The hall, located at the former Sean's Pet Supplies, 117 W. Broad St., occupies approximately 2,500 square feet and offers numerous activities for both children and adults.

"I've wanted to do this for years," said Stan, 54, who has been a billiards enthusiast for over 40 years, and also works a full time job in Hazleton. "We started work on this last August and finally decided to open it to the public."

In addition to eight pool tables, the hall contains arcade games, televisions, a jukebox and claw machine. They also offer food and drinks.

Stan pointed out that they plan on adding air hockey and other games in the near future.

Staff stressed that the hall is also open for parties and community fundraisers. Stan added, "We can work with any non-profit group for fundraising projects at the hall."

The hall is open seven days a week from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Their phone number is (570) 668-1151.

"This is a cleaner and more familiy-oriented place to play pool," said Samantha Miller, 17. "Since I started coming here, my game has improved."
