Thriftiness at its finest.
That's what those who routinely attend Palmerton's Sidewalk Sale have come to expect, and for good reason.
The 41st annual event will be held Thursday through Saturday along several blocks of Delaware Avenue in the borough's downtown.
As usual, the sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 9 a.m. to closing time on Saturday.
Dean Meckes, owner of My Store, at 418 Delaware Avenue, said the sale benefits not only the businesses themselves, but the customers as well.
"It's a little shot in the arm for us financial-wise in the summer," Meckes said. "It's just a good thing for the whole town in general."
Meckes said customers who frequent his shop will come across Carhartt work clothing, Red Wing work boots, and Columbia sportswear, among other items.
Angie Moyer, owner of A Little Bit of Country, at 180 Delaware Avenue, said the sale is real boon for people not just from Palmerton, but the surrounding areas as well.
"It's a great opportunity for everyone in town to come out and see what our small businesses have to offer them," Moyer said. "They can look for all of our country crafts and decor to be the lowest ticketed prices of the year."
