Marian Catholic FBLA members attend leadership conference

Seven members of the Marian Catholic chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America and the chapter adviser, Patricia Patton, the business education teacher at Marian, attended the 2012 Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference April 16-18, at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey.

During the conference the students competed with representatives from other Pennsylvania chapters for top honors in the individually stated events.At the Awards Ceremony, the American Heart Association, the recipient of this year's State Project, was given a monetary contribution to be used toward the organization's programs in Pennsylvania. Other highlights of the conference included individual, chapter, and team competitive events relating to business skills and leadership; the election of a new state officer team; leadership development workshops; and recognition of members' community service efforts across the commonwealth.During the conference Timothy Miller was awarded the honor of fourth place in the Business Communication objective test. The chapter received a plaque recognizing ninth place as 20 percent of the school's students are members of this group.The Future Business Leaders of America is a national career and technical student organization whose mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. The 60 members in the Marian chapter are a part of the Pennsylvania membership of approximately 13,500 in nearly 280 schools.The Awards of Excellence Program was recently broadcast live on the Internet.
