Leadership Carbon, a program of the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce, will host a dinner event to celebrate the graduating class of 2012. The public is invited to attend the celebration to be held at the Mahoning Valley Country Club on Wednesday May 2.

The class will unveil its group project, "Guiding Carbon Youth to Inspire Community Growth," during the event. In addition, Micah Gursky, Director of Development of the St. Luke's Hospital, Miners Campus and an alumnus of the Leadership Carbon class of 2008, will serve as keynote speaker.

In order to graduate, class members attended a nine-month program beginning in September about all things Carbon County. The morning sessions involved local topics such as government, economic development, education, culture/diversity, health care, business, environment and recreation.

The afternoon sessions were dedicated to specific leadership skills and team building. Participation in the group project was also a requirement.

The 12 members of the class of 2012 include Katie A. Garvey, Tammy L. George, Scott P. Kane, Camara M. Klotz, Monica A. Marshall, Heather L. McClure, Cassandra McSparin, Anthony J. Postupack, Mark C. Slivka, Elizabeth Steffy, Akantha Susko and Joseph J. Urban.

The Leadership Carbon Program was created by the Carbon County Partners for Progress to help develop a new class of local leaders for the future. To date, participants have included government officials, interested community leaders and individuals who live or work in Carbon County. More than 70 individuals have completed the program which is now in its seventh year.

Dinner reservations are required. The cost is $40 and includes appetizer, dinner, a beverage and dessert. To reserve your place or to receive more information, call Sandy at (610) 377-4063 or email leadershipcarbon@carboncountychamber.org [1].
